پروفسور جان لنگ از اساتید بنام رشته طراحی شهری در جهان و از استادان پروفسور رضاسیروس صبری در دانشگاه پنسیلوانیا، یادداشت خود را درباره ی ایشان، اختصاصا برای این صفحه ، به دست ما رساندند. از ایشان بسیار سپاسگزاریم.

We sincerely thank Prof. Jon Lang for his statement on Dr. Cyrus Sabri. Here is the note that he wrote specially for our blog. We really appreciate his kindness to send us this note.

CYRUS SABRI

Cyrus Sabri was a student in the masters in architecture class of 1981 at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He also took courses on urban design under my directions and studio work dealing with urban concerns. He thus obtained a Certificate in Urban Design as well as his MArch degree. He came to Penn with very high recommendations from professors who knew as an undergraduate in Tehran. His work at Penn fulfilled their expectations of him.

Cyrus was an extremely thoughtful student and a talented architect who went on to doctoral studies and a dual role as an educator and as a professional. He was held in high esteem by all in both these capacities. He was also a very friendly warmhearted man who went out of his way to help others. I lost track of his career in America and Iran after I moved to Australia and so was delighted to meet him again in Tehran in 2012 when I ran an urban design workshop organized by the Eco Design Idea Institute at the University of Tehran.

He generously allocated his time to help me without requesting anything of me. His warm spirit helped me communicate with the workshop participants in way that I could not have done so without his help. It also showed his ability to move back and forth freely between two cultural worlds. That is not something that comes as easily to many people.

I will remember him, his courtesy, helpfulness and friendship always.
